Simple Faith A-Z – Usual and Unusual

Life as usual means God is walking with me.  It is what God does, even if I am not paying attention.  The usual thing that God does and love me, even when I am not very lovable.

It isn’t unusual for me to tell you about God.  Although in the world we usually keep our faith to ourselves.

I use to think I had to do extraordinary things to follow God. But I find God in an ordinary day.

Every people are born, people die, people accomplish great things, people get sick … usual may not feel like usual at times.   A few years ago it was unusual to find myself without a job because I usually work.  A decade ago finding myself unmarried after being married seemed unusual.   What I have learned is that walking with God doesn’t always make life easy but what it has made life is a awareness that God is with me.

If any of you today find yourself in a situation that feels unusual, know that God is doing his usual thing and walking with you.   If your day is very usual then think to do something unusual that will bring you closer to God.  Maybe an act of kindness for someone, maybe forgive someone, maybe pray an extra prayer…

Yes, as always this is in need of further reflection.

There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens.  A time to give birth, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant.  A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to tear down, and a time to build. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them; a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces. A time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away. A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to be silent, and a time to speak. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8
