“You are a unique, one of a kind, masterpiece of the Most High God” – Fr. John Vogel
“I am a unique, one of a kind, masterpiece of the Most High God” – Gina
Everyone who made a Cursillo retreat in St. Louis during the time Fr. Vogel was the director heard that we are God’s work of art, a masterpiece both precious in the sight of God and beloved of our creator.
We didn’t all go on retreat knowing we were precious or loved or had the confidence to walk around as a Masterpiece of God. Yes, I knew I was a piece of work… but the process of healing; the process of allowing God to complete the work He started was always a process and still is to this day.
What is the difference between walking around like a piece of work and walking as a Masterpiece of God? God!
My walking and talking and looking for direction and trying on my own didn’t always make the right choices or head in the right direction.
God walking and talking and directing and purging and purifying and doing God stuff with me (because of free will I had to allow it & learn to trust it) has uncovered God’s creation, His vision of me. Scripture tells me I am made in the Image and Likeness of God. It tells me God is always with me. And it tells me lots more… mostly I am loved by Him and belong to Him.
Yes, I had to learn to trust His word over all the other words I heard in my life, like stupid and ugly and can’t do anything right. I don’t always do everything right, that is true. But I continually learn to look to God for not only for direction & but for my purpose as He has envisioned for me.
I am thankful for Fr. Vogel to give me some food for thought because sometimes have to tell myself that I am a unique, one of a kind, masterpiece of the Most High God so that I keep my eyes on Jesus.

Ephesians 2:10 “We are God’s work of art, created in Christ Jesus for the good works which God has already designated to make up our way of life.”
Phillipians 1:6 I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus
