Attitude, Believe, Caring – “Do no be Afraid”
“Brothers and sisters, do not be afraid to welcome Christ and accept his power. Help the Pope and all those who wish to serve Christ and with Christ’s power to serve the human person and the whole of mankind. Do not be afraid. Open wide the doors for Christ. To his saving power open the boundaries of States, economic and political systems, the vast fields of culture, civilization and development. Do not be afraid. Christ knows “what is in man”. He alone knows it.” — John Paul II, October 22, 1978
“We must not be afraid of goodness or even tenderness! … We must not be afraid of goodness, of tenderness!” — Francis, March 19, 2013
Walking with our Lord does not always take us to the beautiful places we seek, walking with the Lord do not always mean we receive health or wealth or possessions. Walking with the Lord sometimes takes us to a beautiful, rich place that is a relationship with Him.
Maybe I should have been afraid to give up a job and possessions to go walk for a time with my friends at Caritas, in Abita Springs. They took me to places in the city that some would think unsafe. But there we mentored the little children, God’s spirited children, the Spirit of the Lord has no color, no need to be afraid.
Walking into a maximum security prison would seem like a bad idea to some, but if God was calling I had to check it out. Maybe it wasn’t my call but it is in the bible to visit prisoners.
Moving to a new city, meeting new people,…
the challenge of studying the word of God, and doing what it tells me.. Especially Luke 6 and Matthew 25… studying the teachings of His church.. not always friendly, not always popular but always walking in faith, without fear of making a mistake (although I made plenty) … but walking knowing God is also on the journey.
“The feeling remains that God is on the journey, too.” – Teresa of Avila
Just a walk in faith, trusting as I walked God will guide and lead and most of all love me for trying to follow Him. I am sure even God had to scratch His head once in awhile wondering how He would get me to where I needed to be. Even though I zigged when I should have zagged, God is everywhere and with me always. Most of all Merciful!
Going on retreats at the Center of Jesus the Lord on Rampart St, making a Cursillo retreat in St Louis and an ACTS retreat at St Gabriel’s, meeting new people, God’s people. Learning to share my story, so that others know if God can help me, He can help everyone.
In the challenges: unemployment and sometimes loneliness.. in all things knowing I am called to walk in faith.
OK, I know I am rambling ….(in need of further reflection)
