Simple Faith from A-Z – Caring

1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your worries upon him because He cares for you.”

The Attitude of Christ is one of God listening to us and caring for us.  Believing in Christ should mean we go forward doing the things He would do.   The one thing we know about God is He cares for us.  He loves us.  He watches over us.  He longs for us to spend eternity with Him.  He forgives us.

We should care for ourselves, “Take care, then, that the light in you not become darkness.” Luke 11:35

We should care for others. “Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.'” Matthew 25:34-36

We care for the Earth and all creation, “The LORD God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it.” Genesis 2:15

There was a time when I though caring meant being everything to everyone, trying to fix the world. I wanted to live out Matthew 25, I visited the sick, the prisoners, etc. etc… But doing wasn’t always for the right reason.   I was very co-dependent in how I approached God, I would do everything right to make Him happy.

What I had to learn is that God has always loved me; I am His work, His masterpiece.   I had to learn that I needed to care for others for the reason that others are His work and His masterpiece.  I also had to learn that God was the creator and re-creator of everyone, my responsibility is to love and care and pray.  The choices of others are between God and them.  Loving and caring for others didn’t mean they would love and care for me.   Again we return to the Cross of Jesus, He loved and cared and was crucified (and rose and lives in glory).   I am loved and cared for by many, and many accept my love and care .. No strings attached.  That is the real love and care… God’s love is unconditional. Even when I fail I am precious in His sight and He cares for me.

My thoughts are wandering today …  so as always this post needs further reflection.
