A is for Attitude
Have among yourselves the same Attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus, Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians is a Letter from St. Paul that is filled with Joy and Gratitude! And in Chapter 4 he tells the Philippians (and us) to rejoice always and with thanksgiving bring our petitions to God.
The secret for me is in Chapter 2, having the attitude of Jesus, surrendering all to God _ even the crosses that come along the way. I can be grateful and joyful for all the blessings and surprises. I have learned God is in everything and I can focus on the Glory of God and not what is in this life for me. I can focus on how can I be a part of the life of the Church and the body of Christ, no matter how big or small.
I always wanted to be me… all the people who had ideas of who I should be or what I should do and wanting to measure up… Now I let God do the measuring and by accepting His will there is Joy and I am me..
